Dress with Pockets... 1975

I finished sewing my first dress! I made it from a vintage pattern, Simplicity 7127 from 1975. It seems to have been designed for beginning sewers, so it was (thankfully) very easy to put together. The best part is that the dress has pockets!

It looks cute flowy and jumper-style, or belted at the waist...

I still have some more vintage patterns to try...

the joy of thrifting

I didn't come home with a bicycle load of stuff from thrift store yesterday, but I did find some treasures! I found my first paint-by-numbers piece! And it has cats!

some days are just the best

Lucky me, I now own a copy of Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross! And my sewing machine has been busy!

This is the "Jane's Head Scarf" project... I can see many more of these in my future, made from all my favorite fabrics...

I have quite a few really inspiring books on my shelf lately, Weekend Sewing is just one of them...

I'm in the middle of sewing the "Everything Tote" now and I think it's going to be the perfect bag for a weekend trip that's coming up...

I also have to try this beautiful fabric flower tutorial!

sewing pajama pants while still in pajamas

This morning I started sewing a new pair of pajama pants while still in my pajamas early this morning. Why would I do that? Because today is the first day of my summer vacation and now I can do whatever I want! : )

The pattern is crazy looking because I made it myself, tracing a pair I already had on a big piece of packing paper.

Slouchy, comfortable, perfect. I also have some beautiful brown linen to make into yet another pair!
